Image Usage

A note about Copyright © -Revised October 2006

Artwork on this website is NOT clip-art or public domain. Nor is the 'fair use' rule applicable (that law is specific to the USA and I'm an Australian!) If you wish to use my art for any reason please read on...

All work on this site is (c)opyright Nicole Cadet and is protected by Australian and International Copyright Laws. I allow certain non-commercial/ non-profit usage of my artwork, however there are a number of conditions for usage. Commercial usage is not permitted unless the user has a licensing agreement with me.

These are the conditions of usage and must be abided by. The rules are liable to change at any time, and this is the only location where all rules are displayed*. I do not give 'free usage' or 'blanket usage' so even if my site is listed on a 'Yes' list, these are the rules that must be adhered to.

Commissioned Artwork

Any work that is has been commissioned or is marked as "Exclusive use" may NOT BE USED under any circumstances (except by the client). The image has been created for the exclusive use of the client and has been paid for.

Signature Tags & Email Stationary

As I no longer has time to answer each email individually please abide by the following rules when using my artwork for Signature tags or Email Stationary:

I regularly police how my artwork is being used and I will revoke all rights if I find people not abiding by my rules.

Websets, avatars, Theme Sets & Tubing

I don't allow usage of my artwork for Websets or Tubes. No exceptions!

A number of Avatars are available on the Free Content page and Lady Ithildiel has done some lovely avatars for Livejournal (one of which I use over at AFAE!). If you would like to create icons using my artwork, please add 'Artwork © Nicole Cadet http://www.nicolecadet.com' to the description tag. Do not hotlink to my thumbnails. It ticks me off, as well as steals my bandwidth.

Online RPG graphics

I don't allow my artwork to be used free as online character representations as I offers a paid service for this. It's unfair to the people who have commissioned me, and besides, many of the images displayed in the galleries are based on my own personal characters. Also there is a tendency for the artwork to get cropped/ recoloured/ skewed/ have the copyright removed/ and generally all trace of the original owner (being me) is lost. Please visit the Commissions page for further information or see if I've got anything for sale over at Portrait Adoption.

Displaying Nicole's Artwork Online

I allow my art to be displayed on other websites as long as the artwork is not modified. Here are the following conditions:

This includes things like cross stitch designs, cards, stickers, tshirt designs, giftware etc.

Other Questions regarding Usage of Nicole's Artwork

Can I save your pictures to my computer just to look at myself?
Yes. As long as it is for personal use, and you follow my usage guidelines and don't redistribute them in any way it's fine.

I saw 'such & such' using your artwork in a way not described here...why aren't I allowed?

Probably because they aren't allowed either! If you see my art being used in a manner that you think is breaching copyright or my Usage rules don't hesitate to let me know! I do occasionally bend the rules (and I do keep all my emails which details what I allowed). I appreciate anyone letting me know if someone's not abiding by my rules.

I bought a print/original painting from you. Can I make products from it?

When you buy a print or an original, even if you commission an artwork, unless you buy or pay for licensing rights you are not entitled to create anything from the piece. You are paying for the print/ painting only, not the 'rights'. Please visit the licensing page for further information.
