Inspiring Video Friday – Blameless
This shows how a fairly straightforward cover is made, sped up to 2 minutes. Of course this doesn’t take into account things like the design process and ideas gathering. As there were 2 covers already, using the same series of stock photos* this would have set up a lot of the ‘look and feel’
*(The model in the same costume is also used on Lynn Viehl’s Torianna novels… something I think was bad form – struck me as either cutting costs, pushing the book too quickly, or being lazy. Yes they altered the colour, and had a different background, but it bugged me. I know sometimes publishers want to help the audience identify the book as a certain genre, but it kind of felt wrong in this instance.)
